MANLY April 2001

Barbara conducted her first in-depth seminar in April 2001, for teachers who had studied her books and were trying the movement sequences in a classroom or with their own child. It was limited in numbers to 6 and held over four days. This gave the participants the confidence and understanding of the neurological immaturities leading to learning difficulties and enabled them to go back to their own communities to implement movement programs and also to train others.

The content of the seminar was:

The real nature of learning difficulties - neurological immaturity
Assessment
Explanation of the movement program
A visit to a school to watch implementation of the movement program
An explanation of sound therapy
Exploring developmental optometry and its relationship to learning difficulties
Occupational therapy's contribution to overcoming LD
Healing prayer
Daily question and discussion times
Access to books and relevant material
Emphasis was placed on looking at the whole of each child and visits were made to five relevant professionals.
